简介

All words and music by John Roy Zat, except as noted. Song Notes (the numbers refer to Performance Notes further below). Johnny Fonteneau (1) – With some help from Chuck, this is the story of a little Cajun fiddler. A Few More Miles (1) – For all road warriors, this is an ode to home and the sweetness of reuniting with the one who has been waiting for your return. Midnight On The Water (2) – I was over at Kate Wolf’s house many years ago and sang the words I’d written to this lovely fiddle tune. She liked it so much she recorded it on her second album, and I got to play the fiddle part. Don’t Let Your Deal Go Down (3) – A traditional folk song of warning to the young ladies. In The Moonlight (4) – Falling in love in the moonlight. I was trying to learn a Balfa brothers tune and couldn’t figure out the Cajun French words, so I wrote my own. It turns out that I got their melody wrong also, so I guess I wrote the music too. Tonight My Sleep Is Restless (4) – I learned this beautiful fiddle tune from an Alasdair Fraser CD and I was inspired by its title to write words. A song about loss for Paul and Marlee, and also now for John, Barbara and Jessi. Is That You, Lord (5) – An age old question to which there is no solid answer, which is why I guess they call it “faith”. Crazy Glue (6) – I wrote this song for my parents who had over 60 years together of loving and scrapping. They were truly stuck on each other. . Franky and Johnny (5) – Charlie Poole’s arrangement of a traditional ballad. Sometimes the scrapping can go too far. Starlight River (7) – Love and loss under a beautiful starry night. Co-written with Jean White.
