The power shift starts with Five Mics Entertainment's (FME) debut release, a compilation album from our first three artists, Frankieyez, G-Cue and Strategy. Under the group name of Five Mics, they've come together for an album of non-stop energy and emotion. You'll hear each artist displaying his individual talents yet still keeping that cohesiveness that makes Five Mics such a super group. The album, Independence Day, is a tribute to the many unsigned artist who feel a major deal is the only route to success. It's also a wake-up call to the music industry that the independent scene is alive and well. Tracks like the title song, are a rallying call for musicians and fans to take a stand against the industries lack of originality. Other songs like Five Mics Online pit the musician against the artists in the battle over file sharing. Over a very familiar yet extremely original sample, the two parties debate the good and bad of file sharing. One of the more gripping songs is the almost gothic, Just One Night. The track finds the artist revealing their demons over a beat even more entrancing then the lyrics.
