简介
New Worlds is the latest collection of works by Evan Cooper, almost seven years in the making; old friends and orphans, written, re-written and recorded during late night moments stolen in between the songwriter’s work life and new family. The catalyst came about when Cooper was asked to contribute a track for worship outfit Edge Kingsland’s Seven Days project; the resulting track, synth-tinged ‘Waters’, provided the nudge he needed to then bring seven years of songwriting to a conclusion. The album’s first single ‘Lighter Side of Evening’ is an ode to ‘wounded love’ and hope’s available light. There’s an emotionality channeled through Cooper’s lyrics that plays interesting counterpoint to his electronic production; a wash of warm synths and left-field auto-tuned harmonies. “These songs are about those moments in life when you know there's more going on than just what you can see,” explains Cooper. “They’re about relationships that haven't worked out the way you'd hoped and expected. And it's the resulting, lingering feelings that mark your life. But they’re also about the strange hope you sometimes find in those places – emotions and perspective we would never get unless we strike and explore new worlds of our own.”
