简介
From Brookline, MA, Hunger is new to the music game. Rapping for just over two years, he has quickly made a name for himself and garnered the highest of praise from his peers at performances in the surrounding area. His lyrics are aggressive and personal in the lyrical tradition of emcees such as Eminem and Aesop Rock, yet hold some of the same sensibilities as artists like Blu and Jay Electronica. No stranger to battle rhymes ("Think they're hungry? They're bulimic b**ch, I'm eatin' aplenty/This is beyond flow this is a breach in the levy," from Bazaar) nor to the achingly revealing ("Try to keep the pretext, even though it seems like we connect less, I take good care of the rug where old me gets swept,") Hunger is a lyricist first and foremost; a writer with range who never lacks a sense of intensity and urgency. His production team is composed of Peter Spears and Evan Zierk, who bring dark and bizarre beats that match that aforementioned urgent rapping. They use tools from ambient and electronic music to their hip-hop advantage, and the results are exciting and new, whether it be the hints of throat singing in the beginning of "Inwords," or the laser-like noises that fly around "Grayscale," there is always something alien yet engaging. Hunger's debut album Feast was released May 25th, 2012 to select stores and to iTunes shortly after. Dark and powerful, it runs at a tightly woven 32 minutes. The album carries themes of identity, insomnia, insecurity, confidence, stress, and growing up.
