In Mandinka, "wulokono" means "in the bush". I spent so many hours with my teachers in Gambia and Mali, drinking tea and playing kora, in the quiet refuge of the bush. Tracks one, four, six and eight are original compositions. Tracks two, three and seven are my own arrangements of traditional kora pieces. "Chamber Music" was composed by Ballake Sissoko, and "Wague Ba" is based on Toumani Diabate's piece, "Si Naani".
