I recorded most of "In The Meantime" while snowbound in a small apartment in Central Indiana. The album's title refers to its genesis during that seven day snowy limbo, but also to the limbo of the Kingdom of God. Songs like "Red, White American Blues", "Since Jesus Moved Into Town" and "Surely God Is In This Place" explore life between the garden and the grave, the starting gun and the finish line, the "meantime" where the followers of Jesus "Seek first the Kingdom of God." -"In The Meantime" is a bluegrass/Irish instrumental. -"Red, White American Blues" takes the Lord's prayer for a tongue-in-cheek take on American Christianity. -"He Knows (Just Let It Go" is a beautiful folk song written by my friend Ron Epple about forgiveness. -"If It Was Easy" was written for my aunt and uncle on their move back to Africa. -"I Am The Lord's" is a reboot of an old Church of God hymn by Charles Naylor. -"Since Jesus Moved Into Town" was started after seeing too many Cash4Gold stores and visiting the juvenile detention center in Indianapolis. -"As I Am" was written with my bro Desmond just for fun. -"Surely God Is In This Place" is my "remembrance" song for my summer in Cameroon, West Africa, 2005. -"Rise And Sing" is an a capella Gospel tune. -"Sing A New Song" is taken from Psalm 137 and has had a few different incarnations before this folk arrangement. -"What Could I Ever Wnat?" uses Psalm 23 as a starting point and was my "getting through work" song for a while.
