简介

..Her songs, both original and old favorites, offer a variety of styles from blues and jazz to a waltz or lullaby.... Ellyce Field, The Detroit News This debut CD came from a compilation of all The Music Lady offered in her Preschool Music Programs. Hands down the most requested song is also the oldest song on the album. "The Cat Came Back" is an old folk song that Beverly skillfully brings into the 21st century. The original tune, written by Harry S. Miller of Chicago in 1893, has taken on many forms and various lyrics to match the issues of the day. Beverly first heard this song by Fred Penner and found that it stuck in head for weeks at a time. Beverly pays homage to the Fred Penner version by adding the Ray Charles style end with the Hit the Road Cat. The blues shuffle throughout the song still makes it the most requested song in Beverly’s 11 years of performing for young children and families. Because her audience is generally 10 and younger, she rewrote many of the lyrics to appeal to the younger crowd. Grandparents to two-month-olds now have Beverly to thank when this song is stuck in their head! Taking her first official try at songwriting for children, Beverly included 4 original songs on this CD. "The Day Care Blues", sung by her dog puppet sidekick, Zambonie, gives an original twist to the word “blues”. Prior to being a top-notch performer for kids, Beverly worked as a preschool teacher. The lyrics came from her husband Marc. He spent many evenings enduring those great preschool day stories. Sometimes kids would tell him their “whoas” when he would visit the classroom. He thought they needed their own blues song to help them cope. Anyone who has worked with young children can relate! "Kiss And Make It Better" came to Beverly after an endless search for a boo-boo song. When she would come to preschool classrooms, children would show and tell about their latest scraped knee incident. Being the recipient of many of those trophies herself as a young child, it was easy to come up with the material for the song. She always prefaces the song with “this is based on actual events”. Beverly enjoys sharing songs she would sing with her family when she was young. "Home On The Range" and "I’ve Been Working on the Railroad" were her two favorites as a kid. Being blessed with a “belt-it-out” voice, these two songs in particular allow everyone the chance to sing with all their might. Beverly showcases her fondness for harmony on these songs as well. Music master and Co-Producer of this CD, Marcus Allen, contributed two stories her wrote for his children when they were young. Marcus narrates "The Fish and the Bear" while Beverly lends her voice to tell the “Brainna’s Runny Nose” story. Marcus skillfully weaves music and sound effects to bring the stories to life. Children will ask to hear these songs again and again. Grandparents, parents and teachers have all admitted to listening and singing along even when the kids are not around! A must have CD for your child’s childhood collection! Here is some more information about Beverly Meyer,The Music Lady.
