简介
Kavita Prakash is a contemporary Bollywood artist. Born in Australia, and of Indo-Fijian origin, she has been performing for audiences in Melbourne for over a decade. Kavita’s singing career begun at the age of 6, with performing a devotional song at a cultural event. Brought up in a family of Brahman descent, Kavita has close ties with her spirituality. This has formed much of her inspiration in religious performances, and motivated her in the release of Om Namah Shiva, and Mangalam on the Album. Growing up listening to artists such as Sunidhi Chahaun, Alka Yagnik, & Shreya Ghosal, Kavita has formed a close affiliation with the Bollywood music scene. This has influenced many of her tracks such as Mere Humsafar, Tum Se Hi and Pehle Pehel. After a fateful union with Tabla player, Aman Kalyan, Kavita’s love for Ghazals has grown. Artists such as Hari Haran, Jagjit Singh and Talat Aziz have inspired Kavita in her selection of the song, Kaise Sukoon for her Album. Prior to her release of this album, Kavita has sung live with many artists including the legendary playback singer, Unikrishnan. She has performed on numerous stages both internationally and nationally, including the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. Kavita, The Album was recorded at DE Studios Melbourne. The tracks were carefully mastered by experienced mastering engineer, Paul Fox (Indie Masters, Melbourne). Producer Aman Kalyan (with the collaboration of Carl Rajkumar) has edited, compiled, mixed and created the rhythmic essence behind the album. The creative talents of the Dhol Entertainment team has utilised some of Melbourne’s most talented artists to produce Kavita. Carl Rajkumar has trained as a Carnatic Bansuri player in Sri Lanka since a young age. His experience in Bansuri was confounded by his lessons with the great Dr Ramani in Chennai. Carl’s continuous contribution toward recording the album has been both insightful, and influential. As a tabla player, Aman has exercised the Farukhabad style of Tabla Gharana on the album. Aman’s tabla skills have recently been enhanced from his Guru, Rana Brahmachari in Calcutta - a disciple of the great Pandit Anindo Chatterjee. Denis Phelan, the sitarist, was a pivotal contribution to the tracks. His experience, and many years of classical training in Calcutta brought an innovative style to the album. Bringing the sounds of western percussion into the album is Kavita’s brother, Deepak Prakash. Deepak has accomplished the art of acoustic and electronic drums, and supported master of Indian Percussion, Venkat, in his Australian tour. Recently, Kavita has turned her aspirations in music by focusing on her own entertainment company, Dhol Entertainment, Australia. The music of Dhol Entertainment draws upon sounds of North and South Indian Classical Music, Indo-Western Fusion, and Bollywood. At 27 years old, Kavita now focuses on her classical vocal training from her Guru, Deepika Shome.
