I Fight Dragons – Project Atma – The Near Future Greetings! If you’ve found your way here you’re likely looking for up to date information on Project Atma. Turns out you’re in luck, because this is the only location on the entire information superhighway where just such knowledge can be obtained. So then – what exactly is Project Atma? Well, after leaving Atlantic Records in 2012, I Fight Dragons decided to fund our next album through Kickstarter. In a grand experiment we conceived and launched a campaign that ran from April 30 – June 2 2013, and we were completely blown away by how well it went. Since the kickstarter ended, we’ve been hard at work making our new album, which will be called The Near Future. It will be a 180-gram flourescent bluegreen vinyl LP, packaged in a triple-gatefold sleeve with a companion graphic novel / lyric / art booklet and a 22″ fold out poster. Of course, all physical LPs also come with a deluxe digital version for ease of modern listening on hi-tech computer devices. Originally, we had hoped to complete the project in late 2013, however as those of you following along at home may know, we decided midway through our first recording sessions that we decided we weren’t happy with the way things were going so we decided to scrap everything and go back to square one (crazy kickstarter update). However, I’m happy to report that we are now officially finished with the album! The Near Future is now in manufacturing, so we have set an official release date of December 9, 2014.
