"With a distinct world music flavour to the recording, it was no surprise to read of David Feehan’s journey to Cuba researching material for this album. Previously a vocalist for the Rodger Fox Jazz Orchestra, Feehan is a seasoned musician and educator in the Wellington music scene and his fourth full length solo release enjoys the product of his experience. ‘Cuatro’ is predominantly a collection of his favourite covers, but does include three of his own compositions. Steely Dan’s Pretzel Logic is respectfully delivered with authenticity, while Here I Am, a deep cut from Dragon’s ‘Bondi Road’ album, also stays true to the original. Guitarist Andy Mauafua shines throughout, never more so than on the album opener In The Rain. With a tight jazz ensemble behind him, intelligent arrangements and a soulful crooning style not dissimilar to Boz Scaggs, Feehan’s ‘Cuatro’ is the perfect destination for the jazz and world music listeners."

David Feehan is one of New Zealand's foremost male singers, primarily in the jazz rock/soul-blues idiom. Starting in his first band at the age of 15, he then went on to be a successful studio musician, plus the lead singer for successful seventies band "Tapestry", as well as lead singer of World Famous Rodger Fox Big Band. David has performed and recorded all over the world, from Ronnie Scott's in London, to the Village Van Guard in New York, Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, with the Buena Vista Social Club in Havana, and Carmillos in Los Angeles amongst many others. He is a top vocal tutor in his hometown of Wellington, New Zealand, and has helped many New Zealand artists with production and vocals on their own projects, besides his own. David is also a songwriter and arranger and his latest album, Cuatro is the result of taking favourite songs from various musical eras, plus inputting some of the wonderful rhythms and excitement from two study and performance trips to Cuba.
