简介
British singer-songwriter Léanie Kaleido gets down and dirty with her folky self and her Christmas elves in a stomping celebration of all that money can't buy. The record was released as a separate project from her two albums, 'Karamelién' and most recently 'Quicksands & Shadows', an enchanting collection of quirky, quintessentially English, self-penned tracks exploring the light and dark shades of life. Quicksands & Shadows meanders through wistful, melancholic and existential refrains that explore love, loss and loneliness, but true to her style, she shows the twinkle in her eye is still sparkling brightly, spicing things up with cheeky little ditties that express her love for her Doc Martens and her frustration over a recurring dream about trains. Its title track and others have already received great interest and airplay on BBC Radio and other stations. Cardboard Christmas, released under the decidedly tongue-in-cheek moniker Léanie & the Xmas Factors, started as a bedtime song written for Léanie's young son. Both her son Arthur and husband Joolz also feature in the YouTube video to this song, originally released in 2012. This single, and the albums Karamelién and Quicksands & Shadows, are all available on iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, Spotify and other online music stores. What they say: ‘Reminiscent of the Marine Girls and early Everything But The Girl with echoes of the more ethereal parts of the British folk movement in the early seventies, Léanie has that curiously English charm that makes you want to buy her flowers. The sweet and charming presentation, however, is merely a veneer for some dark and dryly amusing lyrics on the subjects of life and love.’ - Bluesbunny Music Reviews ‘Audio ganja’ - Playmusic Magazine “Quintessentially English and beautifully constructed, these tracks invoke the very best of our home-grown singer-songwriters. Think Beverley Craven, Lily Allen and Dido, and you're on the right road, but Léanie is never anything but fresh and original. Listen, then listen again, and you’ll be captured’ - R J Ellory, musician & author
