The Reconciliation Band was begun as an experiment in writing music that would explain particular passages of Scripture. Tom began writing songs with that goal in mind, and eventually recorded two projects, one exploring the message of the Prophet Jeremiah and the other exploring the Messianic Psalms. Those two projects provided a foundation for what would develop when three of their five children would eventually join them. Their latest project, Hope in the Night, is a deeply personal project that has risen out of their own struggles with the brokenness brought into the world by sin. Each song reflects their earnest desire to to live in the light of the love of God and to encourage their audience to find rest in the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
