简介
Michigan may be 500 miles north of Nashville, but there is no shortage of Honky Tonks, Juke Joints, and Dive Bars. While Cornbread and Ice Tea may have cut their teeth in these places, their true passion for classic country music was instilled by their parents many years earlier. The silence in their childhood homes was constantly replaced with the sweet sounds of classic country music. Growing up with that music in their ear certainly influenced how they play and write as evidenced by this album. Cornbread and Ice Tea’s debut album “Raised on Country Music” includes 14 original songs featuring real life stories. The title track will no doubt take you for a relaxed ride down a muddy back road called Memory Lane. This song is a tribute to many of the legends of country music. For those who truly love classic country, this song is sure to be one of the favorites on the album. No real country music record would be complete without a few love gone wrong songs. Whether it is telling the story about a man whose wife leaves him and the struggles he faces with losing his family in “A Woman Saying Goodbye”, or the man that left his family behind in search of something better, only to realize that the best he will ever hope for is what he just left behind in “I Don’t Live There Anymore”. These songs are sure to relate to some but be felt by all. Throughout the album you will notice family is a reoccurring theme. Two of the most heartfelt songs in this collection are “Simple Times” and “You don’t have to Rush Off”. Anyone that has ever felt the pain of losing a parent is sure to become teary eyed listening to these two songs. These songs capture the raw emotions that range from emotional pain to the chronic desire to go back in time and be with loved ones. Finally, if you enjoy a song with a catchy beat that will make you want to get up and dance, “One Drink Away” and “Here Comes the Blues” are sure to get your feet moving. On this album you will NOT find any new wave or “bro-country”, but what you will find is stories about real life put to music with the help of a pedal steel guitar and fiddle, the way true country music should be!
