简介
Entitled "Intermedio - Latin American Guitar Music", this album has been featured on CBC Radio-Canada in Vancouver and Montreal and on Radio Argentina in Buenos Aires. The great Argentine guitarist Jorge Morel said "Musicality, technique, beautiful sound and a very good program...Vincea and Raymond are great players". Bernard Maillot, President of Savarez (France): "I like everything about this CD...the excellent choice of repertoire, the quality of the performance, the sound and the recording...Bravo!" GUITArt Magazine (Italy & USA): "A pleasing CD by two guitarists active on the international scene...Beautiful warm tone and deep feeling characterize all the performances whether in solo as well as in duo...with a dash of brilliant virtuosity... A really nice CD!" Classical Guitar Magazine (England), CD Review by Steve Marsh: "This is a very high quality production from start to finish; everything about this new release of Latin American music is top class from the highly informative, sixteen-page booklet containing information about the music and the players, interspersed with striking colour photographs of South America, through to the programme and the performance of it. The programme is a mixture of guitar solos and duets and features some of the very top names in the guitarist-composer field. The duo’s excuse (if one were needed) for including several single, short pieces and ‘snippets’ from longer works (America from Morel’s West Side Story; Bellinati’s Contatos from Suite Contatos) is to keep the spirit of the Intermezzo, which, according to the Harvard Dictionary of Music defines as ‘a short piece of casual or light origin designed to express a definite mood or character’. The spirit of this CD definitely moves through many moods beginning with the rousing America, very competently performed by Vincea McClelland and a good choice to start proceedings; this is followed by one of Alfonso Montes’ best works for two guitars, the six-movement Suite Latina, the sad-happy composition which features some of the most lyrical writing for the instrument ever written. Raymond Cousté’s first appearance as soloist is in the set of Brouwer studies which are coupled with the same composer’s work for two guitars, his ‘Homage to Darius Milhaud’ in the Micro Piezas which the two players handle with style. In the rest of the programme Vincea McClelland and Raymond Cousté show themselves to be players and musicians of very high standards, both in their solo settings as well as in ensemble. The recording quality is first-class and all in all this is a very enjoyable recording indeed and one to play repeatedly. Recommended." MusicWeb International: "Intermedio is an enjoyable recording...Those who may have missed it can confidently add it to their priority wish-list...A highlight is the beautiful Milonga by Jorge Cardoso...This rendition by Vincea McClelland is most enjoyable and transcends a previously favoured version by Göran Söllscher...The accompanying booklet represents a production standard which equivalent publications rarely reach."
