简介
Rooks McCoy, was born in Scarborough, and has resided in Montreal, Atlanta, and now currently in Toronto. After high school, Rooks began recording music and producing beats. Rooks first started listening to Hip Hop in 1996, where the first CD he purchased was Enter The 36 Chambers by Wu-Tang Clan. As a victim of substance abuse throughout his music career, Rooks praises Jimi Hendrix, as a huge inspiration in overcoming his once-negative lifestyle. Rooks McCoy has been sober since 2011. Many of his fans compare his sound to Eminem. This comparison is based on McCoy's passion and intensity in his vocal delivery. Rooks' discography is filled with music going back to 2006, all the way until now with his latest project The Sonny Boy Wonder LP. He's been featured on Hip Hop Canada, TorontoRappers, The Come Up Show, 89.5FM, and Maximum FM, just to name a few. Now, coming back as a solo artist, Rooks McCoy is back to remind everyone who he is. The album begins with an amusing, yet profane, flashback to his childhood. These comedic skits are reoccurring throughout the album. As you listen to each song, you can begin to understand his overall vision for this album. He demonstrates how he feels music from his past should have advanced into this day and age. This album tells the story of Rooks’ life from 1993 to 2016. As a child growing up, his parents would always refer to him simply as “Sonny Boy.” He has captured that essence to travel with him along his musical journey to become the man he is today. From heartbreak, comedy, drug experimentation, conflict and eventual success; Rooks McCoy packs everything you’ve been waiting for into his latest work. His lead single off the upcoming album is called Sucker for Love, produced by Kontrabandz, and the music video just dropped today. You can check it out on any social media outlet.
