Sonata No. 2 "Hacklebarney"

Sonata No. 3
简介
The music from *Works for Solo Piano* was composed between 1983 and 1986. Largely inspired by the natural beauty of the woodland areas of Pennsylvania and western New Jersey (where Hacklebarney Park is located), the musical language of these neo-classical, mutli-movement sonatas and more free-flowing pieces was influenced by folksong and New Age music along with dollops of Copland, mid-period Stravinsky, and jazz pianist Bill Evans. Recordings of Bruce Lazarus' *November Sonata* for flute and piano, and *Song of the Earth* are also available for download here at CDBaby. His major solo piano work, *Musical Explorations of the Messier Catalogue of Star Clusters and Nebulae* is widely available for CD/download on Composers Concordance Recordings (Comcon0014) with global distribution by Naxos. New York City composer Bruce Lazarus characterizes his extensive catalog of compositions for piano, brass, flute, solo voice and chorus as "diverse, concise, architectural, contemporary, and in turn meditative, energetic, humorous, moody, and exuberant” and his works have often been inspired by nature, astronomical imagery, the poems of Lewis Carroll, and a lifetime of personal involvement in the worlds of theater and dance. Lazarus studied composition at Juilliard where he earned his B.M. and M.M. in composition and theory. Bruce Lazarus' scores are published at SwirlyMusic.
