简介

This is the second rendering from this band - although the line-up has changed somewhat over the years. "BigMan"- now a five-piece - decided to go into the studio to record some of their own numbers in the spring of 2010. The album kicks off with the title track - "Ain't Easy Bein' a Man" a tongue-in-cheek reference to men not really having any clue about how they stand in the modern world vis a vis the fairer sex. This is immediately followed by a funkyish number on the subject of vampires and is a different kind of warning on the perils of casual sex. Diego Garcia follows with an acoustic instrumental titled "Huge Incandescent Orange Ball" and sex doesn't come into it. "Senior Citizen" is a dark, hard-hitting, punch-me-below-the-belt ditty on the inevitability of getting old and what we can expect when we get there. "Monkey On My Back" is a ballad that shamelessly uses every ballad cliché in the book and is a favourite with fans. It tells the tale of a man who still hasn't got over the damage inflicted on him by a married woman over twenty years before - you might need your hankies for that one! "Alleluia! It's a Holiday" is a fun, two and a half minute rock'n'roller about having fun and partying .- Requires dancin' shoes! For people who don't drink, "Alcohol Free," a no-nonsense blues number which tells of the agony sober people have to go through when partying in the company of their wasted friends. The band were given a welcome, helping hand on this tune from Francisco Simon and Jeff Espinosa of "Red House". "Life's no Holiday" is next on the list - another dark number on the subject of the rat-race and life just flitting by. "Boo Hoo Hoo" - a shuffle- on the subject "What do you do when your wife's got everything and she's still complaining?" This number with its catchy chorus line is a favourite with crowds. "I Don' Wanna Grow Up," a number which gives not a small nod to the Stones, is one of the band's earlier numbers which they decided to revamp and include on the disc. The song title says it all! The penultimate song on the disc, "A Million Miles Away" is a haunting minor blues about getting away from all your worries. The disc ends with a no holds barred, kick-me-in-the guts instrumental - "Batterin' Ram." BigMan are from Madrid, Spain. They started doing shows under the name of "Estacion Blues" in the mid-nineties as a straightforward blues act. The new name "BigMan" which they adopted in 2005 was in fact the name of their first album. Over the years, there have been a number of line-up changes. The line-up for the last four years has been made up of: Rex English (Vocals), Jose Herencia (Guitar), Diego Garcia (Guitar), Rafael Santiago (Bass) and Panci Calvo (Drums).
