简介
Zi Zi recomposed and rearranged the Chinese folk music "Little Cabbage" when preserving the motif of nostalgia. She is the first musician to write and sing the folk song in English. While the original music is based on the story of a child left behind as an orphan, the contemporary version Zi Zi reproduced, "My Little Child," will address the theme of loss. The original Chinese music "Little Cabbage" is composed of 12 sections. Simple and vivid, the original music progressed downward with a crying tone, and through a layer-by-layer melodic revolving, the music portrayed the story of an orphan who lost his mother and was abused. Widely spread in Republican China and PRC as a Hebei folk song seventy years ago, "Little Cabbage" was adapted in "The North Wind" by the classic Chinese opera "White-Haired Woman" in the twentieth century. Both Composer Tan Dun and the Film "Last Emperor" used the music as raw material for their sound projects. Zi Zi's single, "My Little Child," is dedicated to the marginalized and vulnerable individuals, who are and will always be empowered and remembered by her music.
