Growing up in a family of self-taught musicians, Emma followed suit by learning guitar, piano, ukulele, and violin. She wrote her first song at age thirteen and has since found inspiration in bands such as the Beatles, Milky Chance, Daughter, Elliot Smith, and the Fleet Foxes. The first song Emma learned on guitar was Blackbird by the Beatles. Weeks of fingerpicking the same song sparked a passion in Emma to learn more. She has since covered many other bands in order to find inspiration for original fingerpicking melodies. Over the years, she has continued with this style, but learned to add more rhythmic strumming to add a unique sound to her guitar style. ​ Emma also studies Environmental Science at Dickinson College, where she sings with her a capella group, the Infernos.
