简介
Irinami has music running through her veins. It is every much as part of her as walking and breathing is to any human being. From the first moment she opened her mouth to sing the words of a song, she knew that her destiny was already written. Since age ten she grew up behind a microphone. For many years to come, she would dedicate her life and soul to sharing her story and good energy through music. Irinami was born in Bucharest, Romania, and immigrated to South Africa when she was just a baby. Her home town is Durban, South Africa. She grew up with a variety of genres, but the ones that stuck out the most for her were 90s hip-hop, RnB, and Jazz. As a child she sang along to great artists who helped her mature her voice. They were artists like Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Erykah Badu, Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse and Duffy, to name a few. Coming from a very academic background, she placed high importance on getting good grades and pursuing a degree. But that didn't mean that music would ever take a backseat. On the contrary, it was the golden thread that pulled her through school, university, and her blossoming solo career to this day. Becoming a highly acclaimed artist is her purpose, her internal fire that never runs out of fuel. She took part in everything music-related during her school years, and was determined to take it further once she finished high-school. She was accepted into studying law at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Her burning desire to get her career started with music and get her name out into the industry was stronger than ever before. Like a desert flower in full bloom, she thrived against all odds. Despite having a hectic university life, she started a band. As a new artist she hadn't yet discovered her niche sound yet, so she experimented with Indie-Pop and played at all the music festivals and venues Durban had to offer. Radio interviews on 5FM and sharing the stage with some of SA's biggest artists were also an eye-opening experience for her. She also travelled to Pretoria, Knysna, and Johannesburg for festivals and shows. She had gotten a taste of the South African music industry, and she was addicted. She learned the ropes of the music industry quickly as the front lady of her band. But, she knew she had a talent and a voice that nobody could compare to, and she wanted to use it for what it was. Irinami didn't have the patience to hide behind a band. This lady knew she had talent, and she wanted centre stage. After two years with the band, she decided to leave and move to Cape Town. Irinami wanted to learn independence and how to make a living for herself without the comfort of home. She makes her best work when she is under pressure and out of her comfort zone. Being in a new city with beautiful surroundings really inspired her, but the competitive force driving Cape Town's art and music scene was the kick she needed to get her gears grinding for her penultimate dream: a solo career in the genre that brings out her creative genius. Irinami has been a self-taught music producer and songwriter since the age of sixteen, and she has recently released her debut single "Hold Tight". The song was released in March of this year and was co-produced by Raiven Hansmann at Popsicle Studios in Woodstock. Irinami is a dreamer at heart, so her sound is a mix of ethereal, raw, beat-driven, and evocative story-telling. She is one of those freak go-getters who sacrifice anything they need in order to realise their dreams. Absolutely nothing will stand in her way. Her passion and joy of music is infectious. She will be following up her debut release with three more songs to make up a four-track EP early next year. The music video for Irinami's "Hold Tight" is now up on YouTube. Being an unsigned, solo artist, Irinami didn't have much budget for any of her music. She works an 8-5 job just like all of us so that she can fund her music and progress in her career. It taught her time management, discipline, sacrifice, and perseverance. It also taught her how to network, and follow breadcrumbs to an unbelievably executed end-goal. Her latest music video was directed by the highly acclaimed Kyle Lewis and filmed by Greenhaus Films. Irinami initially didn't know where to begin when it came to shooting her first solo music video. She is still very new to Cape Town so she didn't have the luxury connections to hook her up with one. Instead, she went out to find someone who could point her in the right direction. The music video was a blessing for Irinami because it was something she never saw coming. Not once did she ever imagine her first music video would turn out to this standard. To this day she still cannot believe it. Irinami started her music video planning soon after her debut single release. Her initial idea was to have professional BMX riders and skateboarders in the video because the song suited slow-motion athletic footage. She contacted a Cape Town skateboarding blog, looking for riders and skaters who would be keen to feature in a music video. The owner of the blog, who happened to be a videographer, emailed her back instantly after hearing her song and offered to shoot the video for her, free of charge because he loved the song so much. Irinami couldn't believe her ears. She couldn't believe such an incredible opportunity and blessing had practically just fallen into her lap. She was overjoyed and immensely grateful. The videographer had worked with Kyle Lewis before on many other projects for Cassper Inyovest, and the Parlotones. The videographer, Karl Schmidt, showed Kyle the song, and Kyle immediately jumped on board. Irinami worked hard to get more people on the music video in order to make it a huge success. Each team member part of the music video contributed to a stunning end result which Irinami will be proud of till the day she dies. It really is a testament to perseverance and a strong belief in yourself as an artist climbing up the ranks of the music industry. Irinami is only going up from here. Her destiny has already been written, so what happens between then and now are the moments that will make her career timeless and one that stands out from the rest. She is telling her story through music and inviting anyone who likes it, to join it.
