简介

Combining urban dance with a sophisticated blend of blues and reggae, the Hotheads were one of the most talked about bands in New York in the 1990’s. Their unique combination of sounds won them critical acclaim with the press and fellow musicians alike. With band members whose credits read more like a who’s who of rock stars, the Hotheads were frequently known to jam with such names as Lenny Kravitz and Paul Schaffer in clubs throughout the world. During their reign as one of New York’s top bands, they shared the stage with such performers as Tom Tom Club, Van Halen, Debbie Harry, and George Clinton. Performing in Europe as well as the United States, the Hotheads built up a huge following. Their music for the successful HBO television series The Sopranos garnered them a Grammy nomination in 2000. Centered around the grooves created by drummer/band leader Kevin Tooley (John Cale, Klaus Nomi, Julee Cruise) and bassist Johnny Cement, their fourth album Landmines presents the Hotheads at their very finest. It features the great guitar work of Mark Bosch (Ian Hunter Band, Carole King, Garland Jeffreys), and the magnificent vocals of Michael Reiss and Winston Irie. Originally released in 1997 on SMD Records, these fourteen songs — all composed by the band, were recorded in New York at Chung King Studios and produced by Tooley. This 2012 release from World Wide Vibe Records presents a digitally remastered version of the album and also for the first time, its availability in digital download format. So sit back, crank up your speakers and let your head heat up — to Landmines from the Hotheads.
