简介

Maestrick was formed in the city of São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo state, in 2006. Since the very first beginning their goal, musically, was to mix prog rock and heavy metal. Their influences at the time were bands likes Queen, Rush, Yes, Jethro Tull, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pantera, among others. Parallel to the music concept, they were very influenced by other artistic movements like surrealism (specially by Tim Burton’s work) and other artistic languages such as cinema, painting, literature, dance and performing arts. In 2011 Maestrick presented the music market with an invaluable work of art. The debut album "Unpuzzle!" brought together 11 tracks of a genial musicality: a plural progressive heavy metal with lots of references from other artistic segments. Was then people started to classify Maestrick’s work as "Musical Aquarelle". "Unpuzzle!" was exceptionally well received by press at the time. The album was elected among the "Best Of The Year" in all voting held by readers of Brazilian specialized magazines and sites. With the release of the album in Europe, United States and Asia in 2013 by Prog Power Records, the album also reached the international press and conquered the critics, receiving statements such as "Masterpiece" (Stormbringer - Germany), "Fascinating" (Metal Temple - Greece) and "Unique" (Lady Obscure - USA). After the tour in promotion of "Unpuzzle!" that passed by several states in Brazil, including unforgetable shows at the festivals Roça 'N' Roll in Varginha/Brazil, ProgFest II in Lima/Peru and La Plata Prog in La Plata/Argentina, Maestrick started to focus on writting new songs for its second album. But before the release of the new album, Maestrick decided to pay a tribute to those bands that most influenced them. The result was the EP "The Trick Side Of Some Songs" that included new versions that Maestrick done for classics of Beatles, Yes, Pink Floyd, Queen, Rainbow and Jethro Tull. "The Trick Side Of Some Songs" was made available for free download at the band's official site. The bonus track from the EP, Maestrick's version for "Rainbow Eyes", had been previously released on the five-year anniversary of the death of Ronnie James Dio. Back to the original material, "Espresso Della Vita" was the title chosen by Fabio Caldeira (vocal and piano), Renato “Montanha” Somera (bass) and Heitor Matos (drums) for this new Maestrick studio effort. The album is conceptual and will be released in two separated discs. The first one, "Espresso Della Vita: Solare" was recorded at Rush Studios and also at Blue Note Studios, both in Sao Paulo state. The production brings the signature of the renowned Adair Daufembach that already worked with bands such as Project46, Jhon Wayne, Hangar, Trayce, Hevilan, among others. "Espresso Della Vita: Solare" is an observation of human life like "if it was a train ride", explains Fabio Caldeira. "When departed, we started a new learning cycle when we meet people, things, feelings and landscapes. We witness the boarding of new passengers, as well as the landing of other, sometimes beloved ones, until one day it is time for our own landing - and the continuity of learning, out of there. Everything will spend a period of one day, with the first album, "Solare", that will have 12 songs representing the 12 hours of the day. The second will be called "Lunare" and will also have 12 songs representing 12 hours of the night". Still according to Fabio, "Espresso Della Vita: Lunare" will be recorded and released separately, but must be considered a complementary work to the first one. "Not only in terms of concept and lyrics, but musically 'Lunare' will also be complementary to 'Solare'." "Espresso Della Vita: Solare" will be a work that runs away from the conventional, so it ends up being naturally daring and complex. In the song "Hijos de La Tierra" " - focused on the cultivation of love for nature and respect for the Americas - there are participations of seven musicians from four different countries of North and South America - among them that of the singer Cinthia Santibañes do Crisalida. For the recordings of corals and orchestrations that appear throughout the album, there are more than 20 musicians involved! For each instrument the group made a point of having a specialist, in the case of the percussionist Fernando Freitas, professor of the Guri Project, who appears as a special guest on the album. And the group did not escape the rule when it decided to explore the timbres of unusual instruments in the metal or even progressive rock, as is the case of the banjo, dobro and ukulele. For this they invited two musicians from rock band MrMaze, Rodrigo Pimentel (Banjo and Dobro) and Leonardo Almeida (Ukulele). Unlike mercantilist practices that prioritize guests of popular appeal with the objective of adding commercial value to the album, Maestrick prioritizes the symbolic and subjective value of their music, so that all the guests of the album necessarily have some personal relation with the musicians of the band. The most faithful case of this is the last - and not least - participation of Dona Rose, grandmother of the singer Fabio Caldeira. Dona Rose sings a piece of the song "Penitência", with lyrics in Portuguese and one of the heaviest on the album and full of elements of Brazilian music. Another very special participation in the disc is the own producer Adair Daufembach that was responsible for recording all the guitars of the album. "Everything is very exciting”, said the producer directly from his studios in Los Angeles, USA. “At several times during the production the tear came ... I see art in it! And I see a very unique band. Of all the bands I've heard in my entire life are very few that put everything in one place. I hope people go and listen, because it's impossible not to fall in love with this record”. The album cover was designed by Juh Leidl, a plastic artist gratuated from the University of Campinas/Brazil, responsible for the "Woman In Art Exhibition 2013" exhibitions at the Ward Nasse Gallery in New York / USA and the "FAYA Exhibition" in Monza and Milan in Italy. On May 23rd 2018, "Espresso Della Vita: Solare" was released in Asia by the biggest label of the genre in Japan and one of the most important in the world, Marquee/Avalon. Less than a month of its release, the album has already begun to bear fruit for the group in the land of the rising sun. The most important, so far, was the excellent evaluation of the work done by the internationally renowned magazine BURRN !. In its June issue with David Coverdale on the cover, the magazine evaluated Maestrick's "Espresso Della Vita: Solare" with the note 86/100 in its review section. For those who follow the publication, you know that this is a very high note. In the same issue, albums by renowned artists such as Anthrax, Don Airey, Praying Mantis, Cematory, Axel Rudi Pell, Spock's Beard, Dimmi Burgir, among others, did not reach that mark. Angra's new album, "Omni", which is already a big hit, received the 84/100 rating. In Brazil, "Espresso Della Vita: Solare" will be released on June 28 during a closed event for journalists only at Central Panelaço in São Paulo. Two official release shows, one electric and one acoustic, will also be released soon as part of the release schedule. In October, the group embarks for two concerts in Russia and another 10 performances by various countries in Europe. Maestrick is currently formed by Fabio Caldeira (vocal/piano), Heitor Matos (drums), Renato Montanha (bass) and its new keyboardist, Neemias Teixeira, brazilian musician gratuated in classical piano from the University of São Paulo, who won a contest promoted by Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater.
