简介
La Calle was founded on February 1, 1991 by Ramón Hernández, who is the group's bass player and director. With its blending of modern harmonies and straight ahead rhythms, La Calle has been very popular with the dancers of Havana's night clubs. Several of La Calle's songs, such as Dale Otro Toque have become hits on the island and even off the island by way of a network of fans. The group is made up of young musicians who while very contemporary, are solidly steeped in the rich Cuban musical heritage. The arrangements have been tastefully done by Ramón Hernández and the piano player, Domingo Rodríguez. This, their first CD, recorded in 1995, resulted in a nomination for best salsa band in Havana. That same year, La Calle traveled to Bahia, Brazil, where they played to warm and enthusiastic crowds. You don't have to be Cuban to be inspired to dance to this band. Until now this gem of a group has had little international exposure. With the release of Santa Morena, the rest of the world can now enjoy La Calle's irresistible sound. Hear what they've been dancing to in Cuba!
