THE BUCKSHOTS quickly got a reputation to be an a** kicking live band in 2003 and we have been fortunate to get loads of gigs since the beginning. I only release original songs and keep the covers for extending gigs only. We recorded the album ourself as I recorded drums and bass in our rehearsal room. Everything else was recorded in my kitchen (!). My neighbors didn’t like me :D We all have a broad influence of bands. From country to psychobilly. But as I'm the songwriter I guess my influences is mostly shown. It's obvious that I like Brian Setzer ;-) But I'm also influenced by Count Basie, Sonny Burgess, Billy Lee Riley, and modern bands as Ray Collin's Hot Club, Reverend Horton etc. And I really love those 50's female singers like Brenda Lee, Wanda Jackson and Jean Shepard. I think that a smashing chorus and vocal melody is just as important as interesting guitarplaying. So that way I belive our sound comes out more modern than most other rockabilly bands today - which some hate us for and some congrat's us for. It's an extremely conservative music style :D The Buckshots did 130+ shows before it all crashed and burned in October of 2008. It became like a freight train on auto pilot at the end – with us sitting intoxicated in the back waiting for the crash :D We’re still best friends and meet from time to time but I’ve started a new 6-piece band with my wife (Mary West) called RED WEST & HOT RHYTHM.
