COPUS – Creation Of Peace Under Stars – was founded in the late 1990s by poet/spoken word artist Royal Kent and composer/pianist Wendy Loomis. The current ensemble consists of Monica Williams (flute), Patrick Mahon (bass), Greg McRay (drums), along with Loomis and Kent. Guest artists on “Aspects” include percussionists Omar Clark Taylor, Martyn ‘the Professa’ Smith; and singer Barbara Jaspersen. Recording, mixing and mastering were done at MarinWest Studios with Jimmy Hobson as engineer and co-producer. Band photos by Colin Hussey and Jason Ogulnik. “Aspects” includes 10 original compositions and one very special cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “1983 A Merman I Should Turn to Be”.
