Bachata y Dance. Hola * Hi - If anyone could revolutionize modern pop in Spanish, it is the group known as Hola Hi, the duo formed by Angelina de los Rosarios and Paul Curtis; young musicians and songwriters with a unique ability to merge Brit pop, R & B, with the rhythms of Louisiana brass band. A musical melting pot that could be called "World Pop." The couple met at Louisiana State University, when their college careers combined with their involvement in bands such as Palo Viejo, which included tours of several U.S. cities. When Palo Viejo went on an extended hiatus, their alliance had already borne fruit: the couple had not only fallen in love and married, they continued to compose their own music and formed Hola Hi. Philosophers and poets of life par excellence, the two also are great musicians and together they composed all of the music on their debut effort. "Our music is the expression of all those emotions that one experiences in both the peaks and valleys of life," says Paul. "In our music, we try to describe the wonderful multicolored canvas that is life; you cannot have only the good and eliminate the bad, or vice versa. The difficult times are inevitable, but you discover strength and personal growth through these experiences, and so one can appreciate positive moments. This is one of the main ideas that we try to express through this project. " "When we compose we evoke the experiences we have lived along the way," says Angelina. "We sing from the heart of faith and love. Although it is sometimes sweet and sometimes bitter, it always keeps our hearts beating." On ‘Primavera’, the duo’s debut album, there are social message songs like "Torre de Barajas", which, between bursts of Arabic music and a beat emblematic of New Orleans, talks of those who abuse the innocent and how one day justice will be served. In "Viaje al Horizonte", with a vibrant back beat as protagonist, they highlight the importance of tenacity and faith to achieve any dream. Then there’s "Aire de Primavera", an ode to the unexpected return of love, just as she was about to stop believing in it. Synth-pop makes its appearance in "Me Haces Volar", and one cannot forget the bachata-influenced tune, a genre that both adore, called "Nunca Mas Terminara”. The song deals with a relationship coming to an end by circumstances of life. But as the love did not end when the relationship did, when life gives them a new opportunity, they jump at the opportunity. In this musical journey produced by A.T. Molina (Locos Por Juana), Hola Hi also sings to the miracle of new life ("Mi Delirio") as well as the deep pain of a loved one gone too soon. ("Si Estuvieras Aqui"). "The themes deal with personal moments in our lives, but are universal themes with which everyone can relate," says Hola Hi. "From an infinite joy to great sorrow, from a disappointment that leaves us with a broken heart, to the birth of a new hope." And, be it the sublime or the difficult, this ensemble tackles them all with deep feeling and musical richness. Please visit http://www.holahi.net for more info
