简介

Musik.al Dialogue. Manifestation of 15-Years Journey of Johannes Rusli's Life A dream comes true. That's the essence of Johannes Rusli's Musik.al Dialogue. According to Johannes, it was once a highfalutin dream despite his courage and hard work in music industry. "Moreover, this is an unusual concept in with which the first album emphasizes on the song writers, whose works are performed by different vocalists. However, I believe that it is by God's blessing and might that after 15 years of dreaming, this album is now available for Indonesian music enthusiasts to enjoy," said Johannes, a young and talented composer who very much adores Erwin Gutawa and Guruh Soekarnoputra. "I'm inspired to have this album sounds like film soundtracks. People will listen to it as if they are listening to a series of eleven stories. One of the uniquenesses in this album is that all songs are played in different genres; it is "Lebih Dari" in Pop Jazz, easy listening as in "Suatu Masa", funk in "Kenangan Cinta", waltz in "Jujur Saja", or acoustic fingerstyle guitar picking with strings section background and sweet voice in "Sesal"," Johannes said proudly. Johannes has put all his efforts in making the album of his dream. "I've been very detailed since the arrangement process. It is like 'I want it this way!'. I engage myself in every stage of the making of this album, since the production, recording, and even I select the players and the vocalist myself!", he added. It is implied by Gihon Lohanda being selected as the arranger and music director. Gihon is a young and talented Indonesian who has been engaged with a number of famous musicians, such as Archipelago Orchestra. Eventually, 20 musicians (7 in strings section, 5 in brass section) work for this album, including the full-band format performed by Indonesian professional musicians such as Dimas Pradipta, Andy Gomez, Kevin Yosua, Cindi Clemeninte, Eugene Bounty, etc. The vocalists are also exceptional; Johannes have young and talented vocalists such as Meda Kawu, Richard Chriss, Cassia Agata and Michael Panjaitan singing the songs. Mastering of the album was made in Nashville, the United States for an optimum result. Johannes admitted that the CD and songs are distributed independently. "With a very limited CD stores, I use social media and digital store distribute them," he said. However, Johannes may be proud of his Musik.al Dialogue released on iTunes digital store platform on July 10, 2015, since it gets positive reviews despite himself being a newbie in music industry; even iTunes featured it on the front page Big Banner (featured sections) only in two weeks following the release, as well as it was in the TOP 5 iTunes Album Charts in All Categories for mid-August, 2015. After completely listening to the album, it indeed feels like having yourself watching a musical drama by Johannes Rusli. There are upbeat pop jazz as the intro, melancholic ballads, an easing ambience of swing as in 50's jazz clubs, a declaration of love to his wife, and of-course the encore, "Negeriku", a song of love to his homeland that is featured in Apple Music's A-list Song to Hear-October 2015, a perfect match of ethnic music and strings ensemble sung by Meda Kawu and Bang Saad, a saluang and ethnic flute player, a living legend. "Thank God. I didn't expect to get such remarkable reviews and response for this album, and I wish to make another album and enliven music industry in Indonesia in the near future," he concluded.
