Hailing from their stomping grounds of Boston, Massachusetts, and blending genres of hard rock, funk, reggae, and blues, Forgetful Jones illustrates a non- definitive, signature sound that is unlike the music that currently paints the mainstream industry. Comprised of Kenyatta Savage (vocals), Jon Holland (guitars), Niles Tooher (bass), and Matt Athanasiou (drums), Forgetful Jones creates music as a reflection of their individual and collective struggles, trials, and triumphs. Forgetful Jones is band that has a long history dating back almost two decades, and was built off of one theme: friendship. In 1995 a group of adolescent friends Jon Holland, Niles Tooher, and Matt Athanasiou had one overwhelming common love... Music.. It was this bond of friendship and music that led them to decide to learn to play instruments in hopes of being able to form a band. Shortly thereafter Level Ride was formed. At this time due to their age and inexperience Level Ride shows mostly consisted of playing house parties, and talent shows, but as the boys grew older they started playing shows in clubs in the Boston, and South Shore areas. During this time Kenyatta Savage who had recently moved to Massachusetts from Los Angeles CA, had become the front man of a well known local band called Fishbowl. Jon, Matt, and Niles looked at Fishbowl as an inspiration and strived to work with them. Eventually these two bands started playing shows together around the South Shore music scene regularly and developed a deep friendship. In 2004 Fishbowl disbanded leaving Kenyatta looking for a new project. During the spring of 2005 Level Ride and their singer Josh Knudsen parted ways, however, Jon, Niles, and Matt made the decision to continue playing together. Their first natural reaction was to reach out to their old friend Kenyatta whom they'd always hoped to work with and see if he'd want to jam.. and he said yes!! In May of 2005 what would become Forgetful Jones started to play together. The union of these musicians seemed perfect and natural. The mission from the start was to form a band that was not constrained by a single genre... The idea was to find a way to incorporate a wide variety of different influences and musical genres into one original sound. Blending influences of hard rock, funk, reggae, and blues F.J. quickly found their sound. Shortly after starting to rehearse F.J. found themselves performing live in the local music scene and quickly developed a large and loyal following. In August of 2006 F.J. shared a bill with artists such as Alice in Chains, Buckcherry, and Days of the New at what is now The Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Ma. Over the years since F.J. has played countless shows throughout the northeast in venues of every shape and size, and has supported other national acts such as Ben Kenney of Incubus and many more.. Forgetful Jones has released two full length albums with longtime producer and friend Ian Hughes of Monkbam Records.
