La novedad está en el tratamiento que este singular artista le da al típico formato del tango-canción. Letras donde se mezclan la ironía, el romanticismo, el absurdo y hasta el ridículo; el viejo lunfardo con el nuevo, poniendo el dedo en la llaga en los temas que apasionan y atormentan a los argentinos: el fútbol, la corrupción, el amor. Rarely has an album's title described its content so accurately. Tangos Inesperados (Unexpected Tangos) is an unusual collection of 12 original songs whose basic structure is strictly tango. The novelty lies in the attitude with which this unique artist approaches the genre. Lyrics where irony meets romanticism, the absurd and even ridicule, mixing new slang with the old, messing around with the topics that inspire passion and torment the Argentines (and other peoples as well): love, corruption, soccer, etc. The impecable production and inspired arrangements by Dino Durand and Sergio Dreiman provide the perfect backdrop, with a beautiful sound that is both traditional and contemporary. Durand recruited a group of talented musicians for the occasion: Raúl Jaurena (bandoneon), Pablo Motta (bass), Pepe Motta (piano), Pedro Eustache (flute) and Julio Ledezma (percussion), among others. Not to be missed is twice in a row Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (best original music for Brokeback Mountain, 2006; and Babel, 2007) vocal performance as "Chorimán", the epic tune that opens the album.
