In Greek mythology, “Hyperborea” was a rich and luminous land situated “Beyond the North Wind” – the title of Kat May’s debut album, to be released in the autumn of 2014. Deepening an aesthetic search begun in her EP “The Trees of Regents Park”, Kat explores the human relationship with nature, the quest for identity and exile.

Her atmospheric indie folky pop has been hailed by France's biggest music magazine, Les InRocks, as cathartic, elegant, and infused with a Scandinavian melancholy. Tom Jowett of the Oxford Music Blog described it as "tender, moving, beautiful".

Recorded and mixed in London by Ran Steiner and mastered by the internationally acclaimed Brian Lucey - whose work includes The Black Keys albums, the Arctic Monkeys, Sigur Ros and Chet Faker - “Beyond the North Wind” is an ambitious album that promises to soothe and surprise in equal measures.
