Originally from Georgia, living in the Midwest since 2003, and recently back home in Atlanta, Sonny Bamboo is part of Hip Hop’s next generation. Leading the way for his region, Sonny is the founder of the Midwest Division for the world’s largest rap battle league, Grind Time Now (grindtimenow.com). He has made a name for him self as one of the top battle rappers worldwide, and one of the leaders of his generation in the battle rap circuit. Sonny is the MTV Fight Klub champion for Indianapolis, the Scribble Jam Indianapolis pre-lim winner, a back to back to back Hip Hop Congress battle champion, and has made appearances in such publications as The Source magazine, Midwest Hype, AMPS, and Nuvo among many others. His live show won him the first ever Indiana Hip Hop Battle of the Bands in 2008, and he has a three part mixtape series called ‘Staying Alive’ with DJ Wushu of Denver, CO. He also has a compilation record that has 2 volumes already available on iTunes titled ‘Monsters in the Midway’ with features from Freeway, Trick Trick, Termanology, Pace Won, Guilty Simson, Marvwon, Icon the Mic King, Juice, Matlock and many more.
