I recorded the songs that little kids ask to sing, want to sing. And as cool as I wanted to be for the grown ups, I stayed true to the idea of making a CD that little children would love. Songs like "The Pony Song" which if you have not heard it, get ready. I've sat in music circles where every child asks to sing the Pony Song even if we already sang it ten times! "Johnny Works with One Hammer" and "Bunny Foo Foo" are also big favorites. The ultimate of course is "Twinkle Twinkle" which is why I had to record it. Not necessarily ground breaking, but these are the songs little kids want to sing time and again. And then I wrote some new ones which I'm proud to share. "Hippopopotomus" is really a tribute and an accounting of everything kids like to tell me about. Whether it's a loose tooth or a cool new band aid, shoes that light up or the fact that Mommy is coming back to get them...these are the issues on kids minds. The song is funny and when I've played it in the classroom, all the children dance! The song "Love of a Mother" is my own personal anthem to parenthood. And the song "Little Cricket" is a soothing new lullaby you can sing to your child at bedtime. When I recorded it I thought of all the moms and dads who had given over their most precious children for me to sing and play with. I wanted to give something back. I think this CD is super great for little kids and anyone else in ear shot. I do. Let me know how it is for you.
