Music has always been the passion of Ira Brown. In July of 2016, after seeing Jeff Lynne's ELO at a small venue in New York City, he was inspired to finally take his music off the "back-burner" and explore what it would take to record an album. Working with his long-time collaborator and keyboard player, Dan Tumolo, Ira went to many recording studios in search of a place that would be a good fit for his music. He was fortunate enough to be introduced to Jim Salamone of Cambridge Sound Studios in South Philadelphia. Ira and Jim connected right away, and Jim understood Ira's vision of what he was trying to achieve. At that point Ira decided that Cambridge would be the place to make this happen. He booked his first recording session in July of 2016, and since that time has spent many hours recording, mixing, and perfecting a total of nine songs for the album. Ira was extremely fortunate to have collaborated and recorded with amazingly talented musicians, including Brian Fitzy, Chico Huff, Joe Fusco, Doug Grigsby, Charlene Holloway, Kevin Killen, Todd Mecaughey, Kiley Ryan, Rachel Braddick, and Jeff Vineburg. These exceptional artists have taken his music to places that he could hardly have imagined! One of Ira's greatest thrills was to work with the legendary guitarist, Randy Bowland. Randy played on every one of his songs, and Ira continues to get goosebumps each time he listens to Randy's passionate lead guitar solos. While Randy was working on the project, the recording sessions needed to be scheduled around his performance at the White House as part of the BET Love and Happiness Concert. Just after Randy completed recording Ira's songs, he went on to win a Golden Globe award for his contributions to the Song of the Year "This Is Me" from the movie "The Greatest Showman". Randy is so deserving of this honor, and Ira pinches himself each time he thinks about the indelible mark Randy has made on his music. One of the featured tracks on the album is called "The Birthday Song", a song that came to the attention of Gladys Knight when American Greetings was in search of a modern-day birthday song. The album will be released on August 23rd, 2018, and it will be available on CD, iTunes, and Spotify. The music industry is a totally different compared to when he first embarked upon the scene in NYC many years ago, though the passion he has for his music has never dwindled.
