"I come sharing gifts!", exclaims Effswell, who spearheaded Chris City, UNLTD; a collective of visual artists, dancers, musicians, directors & visionaries who are committed to the practice of “painting with one’s own brush”, the ideology of expressing art through individuality. Effswell, a 29-year-old product of Columbus, Ohio, often brings conversations to songs with a sure-headed rap delivery (comparable to Kanye West) intermixed with often ambient, vibe-driven crooning, reminiscent of 80’s dance music. Effswell draws inspiration from a diverse range of musicians including Outkast, Radiohead, Ms. Lauryn Hill, & Michael Jackson. Effswell was a featured artist on NYC producer/director Rimar’s 2011 LP, Higher Ground; credited as Joseph Andrew Cross. During a brief hiatus from releases, Effswell took time to continue to shape his sound by recording with an unnamed 4-piece band in 2012, writing & acting as lead singer. A yet-released EP was cut in late 2013. "Outrageous" was recently released as the first of the new songs emerging from this project; with more sounds to follow in months to come! The “Singer-SongRapper” EP is slated for an September 2014 release date. Until then Effswell will be sharing new sounds & graphic art via his blog.
