简介
In the relatively unknown SoSlo area of Brooklyn, is the studio of Mike Salerno. The debut album from Lunchbox Riot was recorded there in a truly indie fashion, with Salerno playing nearly all of the instrumental parts, singing, songwriting, and producing the entire album on a shoestring budget. The project titled "The Weather" is amalgamation of styles that fall into a genre he calls "Indie Plus" viz. Indie + Rock, Indie + Dance, Indie + Rap etc. and was recorded over the course of two years. "On the train you'll see a girl dancing with her headphones on, someone doing air drums, and another guy in a moment with his eyes closed. I always want to hear what people are listening to, what inspires these moments. The Weather is what it would sound like if these strangers were all friends and threw a party on a Saturday night." To fund this album, Salerno raises money Djing around NYC. Under the stage name DJ 5 Alive he spins eclectic sets that match his varied approach to music. 5 Alive also is known in the New York Hip-Hop scene for his remixes of Beastie Boys, Masta Ace, and K'Naan as well as for providing beats for freshman stars of NY rap Miladic as well as Dashah of the Fresh Vetz crew.
