"Juan Johnson" was born in Dallas, Texas. Per his parents who were Mexican immigrants, Francisco "Juan" Martinez AKA 'Double X' had all sorts of friends but he always showed strong individuality.Unlike most of his friends, XX's love was not material things but music. In a recent interview, XX said 'I've loved music all my life. XX was introduced to music at a young age by his father who taught him classical piano. XX's musical gift was enhanced when he enrolled in Arts Magnet High School in Dallas where he studied Jazz, Music Technology and the Art Venues. As a teenager, XX won several M.C. contests and from that he produced music full time. XX has produced four (4) different albums for various artist, rapped on several commercials for Pepsi Cola, Starbust, TXU, McDonald's and Coors Light.---Taken from the artist website (www.doubleequis.com)-----In a recent interview Double X said, " Well, what can I say about myself other than I am a poet, musician, songwriter, and a producer. I make music because I have a great passion for it. If someone asked me what does Double X mean , then I would say this-----Once , Malcom "X" explained why he changed his last name to X, and I thought to myself - If Malcom (Blacks) do not claim there slave owners' last name because it holds them back from their true identity, then I would say my race (Brown people) have a identity crisis twice the fold. You see my people are of a conquered origin. Indian (Aztec, Mayan) culture and women were rapped by a new race (The Spanish) and introduced to a "civilized" society. So , not only is my name keeping me from my identity, but so is my mixed bloodline. So there it is - We live in a world where we are constantly being lied to, and the "truth" is not enough to save us for what we think is the truth; could possibly be a lie. What we need to save us is the super truth. When you flip the super truth you get the super unknown, and that's DOUBLE X !! That's what my music represents. No first , No last, Just here. Start all over. Wipe everything clean and make some real music that makes sense that people can feel. " My style no limits and my search for the super truth leads me to new challenges that help me evolve as a human. I'm here to make a change and leave behind a better path for those after me.
