简介

Get ready to tap your feets and laugh your teets off! Welcome to the crossroads where music and comedy meets and souls are sold and thrown into the Devil's stew pot. Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce you to Josh Blue and the Hooligan Stew Revue! The first track recorded for Hooligan Stew, Captain Of The Sea, was tracked live at the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater in front of no less than a sold-out crowd. Since it is a sea chanty, Josh would lead the crowd in wave after wave of flailing arms and palsy punches. It was like witnessing mating season for the Chesapeake blue crabs, all triggered by lust and the moon to come ashore and share in the awkward dance that is Hooligan Stew. Intrigued? Then read on mates. Mulligan stew is an improvised dish said to have been prepared by American hobos in camps in the early 1900s. A hooligan is slang for a rough lawless young person. Josh is often mistaken for a homeless person, or "hobo", that can't play an instrument to save his soul. He tries to blame it on his cerebral palsy. Zebra Junction is a multi-instrumental, every-genre powerhouse with a tongue in cheek sense of humor. They met, consumed a ton of cheap beer and Colorado medicine, and woke up with the worst hangover and 15 babies in the crib. By "babies" I mean tracks. By "crib" I mean this album. Still intrigued? Sweeeeeet. Although Josh came to this project without any musical background, skill or knowledge, he still managed to play several instruments (slide guitar, banjo, upright bass, drums and percussion, harmonica, kazoo, toy piano, mouth horn and crying baby). Just before taking the stage at Red Rocks, Josh found out that he was going to be a daddy. 'Til March was written and recorded leading up to the delivery. "I wanna see my baby but it's still inside of you. Dr says it can't come out...'til March!" On Simon's Lullaby, Simon makes his singing debut as a crying newborn infant. Josh sings, plays toy piano and and makes sheep noises. 6 months later, Simon was a full-blown member of the band and participated in the album cover shoot. Gave us 2 hours of wheeling around in a shopping cart and all he asked for was a banana as payment. He fits in just right. One of the standout tracks on Hooligan Stew is the semi-autobiographical Randum House. Think Tom Waits and Vincent Price getting it on. I mean REALLY getting it on! Musically of course. "This house is random, and full of its quirks. The leg of a mannequin, in the shower lurks." "The fridge is talking, and here's what it said, neighbor's dog in the garbage, hairless and dead! So sing out loud!!" At the time of this printing, this song is being used for a Josh Blue comedy special on the Showtime Network. Check your local listings brothers and sisters. On this record you'll also find some off beat country drinkin' music (I Would Stop Drinkin'...if you would stop talking, but you just go on and on. Darlin', why don't you put it in a song?"), and a bluegrass style stomp about everyone's favorite convenience store Loffenjugg. You'll also find some killer, and borderline obscene, covers such as The Muppets' Can You Picture That? with Josh singing the lines of Dr Teeth, and the old ragtime standard Sweet Georgia Brown with Josh singing in the style of Scooby Doo. If you're a fan of the original Cheech And Chong skits from their 70s albums, reach for your sticky change because you won't want to miss African Story!! "Bye smelly man." Here's more about Josh Blue- Perhaps best known as the comedian who puts the cerebral in Cerebral Palsy, Josh Blue exploded onto the national comedy scene by capturing the attention and endearment of the country as the winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Having already established himself as one of the most sought after comedians on the college circuit, his weekly appearances on Last Comic in the summer of 2006 expanded his fan base exponentially. Most recently, Josh debuted a new special, Comedy Central Presents: Josh Blue, which received rave reviews from fans and critics alike. Possessed with an undeniable likeability and comedic timing that belies his youthfulness; Josh continues to break down stereotypes of people with disabilities one laugh at a time. His stand-up routine is in a constant state of evolution and his off-the-cuff improvisational skills guarantee that no two shows are exactly alike. Josh has appeared as a regular guest star on Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia and his story has been featured on Fox, CBS, ABC, and MSNBC. He was the first comedian to perform stand-up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, was named Best Winning Reality Show Guest for his appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly, and made a standout guest appearance on Comics Unleashed. He became the first comic to debut a stand-up special on the big screen when 7 More Days in the Tank was shown in theatres across the country. Portions of the performance also aired on Bravo Network as a half-hour comedy special. Josh is a repeat guest on such nationally syndicated radio programs as NPR’s Talk of the Nation and The Mancow Show and has been featured in numerous print publications including People Magazine and The New York Times. Josh has also performed at the prestigious HBO-Aspen Comedy Festival, Comedy Central’s South Beach Comedy Festival, and The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas. Josh has even become quite an Internet sensation with his top two YouTube videos approaching 2 million plays. Despite his extensive schedule of stand-up tour dates, Josh maintains an active role on the US Paralympic Soccer Team and competed in Athens at the Paralympic Games, the world’s second largest sporting event. Josh resides in Denver with his wife, Yuko, their son, Simon, and daughter, Seika. More about Zebra Junction (Micah Lundy and Shawn "Flitzalan" Palmer) Working with a collection of rare, hybrid and homespun instruments, this power duo's Vaudeville approach includes “creative” percussion, baritone guitars, and such unconventional instruments as the banjo-ukulele, a hyper-modified Playskool tape deck used for “scratch”, toy piano, and numerous samplers and effects to morph “old school” into “no school.” If Tom Waits, Tim Burton, and the White Stripes baked a cake together, it would taste and sound a lot like Zebra Junction! In 2009, ZJ was voted "Best Jam/Improv Band" in Denver's Westword Music Showcase after making the ballot 5 years in a row. Other Colorado bands that won this category in the past include The String Cheese Incident and Yonder Mountain String Band. In 2010 the song H2O Blues from their album Waterborne, was used in episode 7 of the HBO series True Blood. Zebra Junction, both live and in the studio, melds together a deeply eclectic group of styles. They seamlessly move from funked-up bluegrass to drunken Tin Pan Alley ragtime; from the Celtic sounds of a whaling ship, to colorful electronic grooves, to effortless harmonies. This gutsy-rootsy, high energy power duo, with their creativity and unique repertoire, conjures up a fresh experience that takes the listener from living room to amphitheater. All aboard!
