The Weekend People formed, with little fanfare and little fuss, sometime in 2004. Two guys with a guitar, a piano, a reasonable grasp of the indie/pop/rock aesthetic and some devastatingly poetic lyrics. This was enough to win over many crowds, who seemed unanimously to agree that, yes, it was all about the songs and that there is much that can be achieved percussively (when required) through thumping a boot heel on the stage. But the plan had always been to augment the lineup with a rhythm section and recording began on an as yet unnamed and unfinished release.
