Since first hitting the stage at the age of seven, the accomplished singer/songwriter has emerged as one of his homelands brightest young music prospects. Deeply rooted in the R&B and Soul influences of artists like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Donnie Hathaway, and Michael Jackson, Hendrick’s smooth vocal offerings often conjure up images of Philly soul rather than the Canadian prairies. His mature and dynamic stage presence has captured fans both locally, nationally, and internationally and his other talents as a saxophonist and keyboard player have truly made him a unique musical entity. Born and raised in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Jeff’s father brought home R&B and Pop recordings from artists like The Commodores, The Doobie Brothers, and Stevie Wonder, and a deep affinity for the genre was born. After completing a Jazz Performance Degree (Saxophone) at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, Jeff returned to his hometown to make his singing and songwriting dreams a reality. Jeff hosted an incredibly successful weekly neo-soul showcase called ‘The New York Groove before heading out to Los Angeles and New York several times to promote his first series of recorded demos. A year in Los Angeles saw him perform at famous venues like B.B. Kings Bar & Grill and The Roxy, and then Jeff returned to his native Canada to begin work on his debut independent release. ‘Bout Time’ was released in 2003 and immediately made an impact in the UK and Europe, where one of the album’s songs was featured on a UK soul compilation. Jeff toured the UK in 2003 before returning to begin work on a follow up recording. Jeff’s highly anticipated follow up album ‘Soul Celebration’ was released in at the end of 2005. The album quickly became an underground soul sensation in the UK, Europe, and Japan, and Hendrick’s positive, stepping grooves soon evoked interest from other markets like Germany, Italy, and of course, the USA. To date, Soul Celebration is approaching 6,000 independent sales, based on huge fan appeal from the underground soul community worldwide. The CD has also topped a number of regional soul charts across the globe this past year. Hendrick recently performed at the Birmingham (UK) Luxury Soul Weekender, and got rave reviews from his performance at new soul haven, The Five Spot Club, in Philadelphia this past July. In the past several years, Jeff has opened for artists like Boyz II Men and Glenn Lewis. He recently performed at Philadelphia's famous Clef Club and New York's SOBS. Jeff made his US syndicated radio debut Sept 8th, 2006 on THE MICHAEL BAISDEN SHOW, and was Mr. Baisden’s featured artist a week later (Sept 15th, 2006) to a US audience of millions!
