High Top Kicks started when the son of an astronaut, Brent Armstrong, and the son of an EVP specialists, Gabriel Saint, met.Their unhealthy love for boxes, buttons, gadgets and boutique sneakers led them on a path to creating music. Brent Armstrong woke up one morning and his house was on fire. He ran outside to safety where he saw Gabriel Saint with a gas can and matches. What seems like a rift became a musical bond. The two had an unhealthy love for music and performance antics. Brent was forced to live in Gabriel’s spare room after his house was reduced to embers. This is where High Top Kicks began. Brent’s father was an astronaut and he had been schooled in the ways of wires, gadgets and formulas. Gabriel’s father was a pyromanic, and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. The combo of technology and love for fire is the spark that set High Top Kicks ablaze. “Hook all the machines together and make them sing, and then sing on top of that” is a fair description of this duo’s electro fidget and pop sound
