简介
Their classic 2009 Christmas album "A Star Still Shines" continues to receive airplay on radio stations across America. And on December 13th, 2011, The Glenn Mohr Chorale releases their new record "Blessed Hope: Songs Of Advent", a twelve song musical celebration of the Advent season. Known as America's Beloved Catholic Storytellers, The Glenn Mohr Chorale reaffirms their reputation with "Blessed Hope", a joyful theme album celebrating the four-week prelude to the birth of Christ. Advent themed recordings are quite rare, which encouraged The Glenn Mohr Chorale to record "Blessed Hope: Songs Of Advent". "Generally, Halloween decorations come down and are immediately replaced by snowmen, reindeer and Santa Claus," said composer/director Glenn Mohr. "There's often little focus on the Advent season other than the calendars children are given. Advent is the anticipation for the coming of our Savior's birth, joyfully. We recorded "Blessed Hope" in this spirit," said Mohr. The album features six original compositions written by composer/director Glenn Mohr, alongside an equal number of classic Christmas carols. Amongst the original songs, the standout track is surely the beautiful "Soon Be The Dawn". "As winter begins, the nights are longer, and we wish for the dawn," says Mohr. "Soon Be The Dawn" is about savoring the coming of the light as we await the birth of Christ." Patient anticipation is a recurring theme on the "Blessed Hope" album, which perfectly reflects the Advent season. "In the mad rush of holiday shopping, the idea of delayed gratification might seem out of place. But if you think about Mary, as she awaited the birth of Christ, and what she was going through, it puts things into perspective," said Glenn Mohr. "Within My Heart I'll Know", another one of the original songs on "Blessed Hope: Songs Of Advent" is written from Mary's perspective as she awaits the coming of the light. The traditional selections on "Blessed Hope: Songs Of Advent" include treasures from Germany, France, and the Appalachian mountains. "Lo! How A Rose E're Blooming", an old German Christmas carol, is based on the prophesies of Isiah, which told of the coming of a messiah: "A rose will bloom in the desert". "Judah's Land" is an Appalachian Christmas hymn, handed down thru generations. "Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mine" is another Christmas classic, but with a very personal tone. "The lyric is a conversation between Mary and Joseph as they cradle Jesus in the manger. In the Chorale's music and in our performances, we try to show the humanity of the people in scripture. The gospel stories tell of the issues, problems and fears of people who really walked the Earth," continued Mohr. "There is sacred in the ordinary, and the image of Mary and Joseph sharing a moment, as they care for the newborn Christ, is a beautiful manifestation of that."
