After a brief hiatus in 2008, in which I made no music, I started to create music for a new project in 2010. “Confessions of a Love Affair” is a twelve track compilation reflecting thoughts, observations and insight about falling out of love. The philosophy that went into writing this material was to create compelling pieces of art, primarily composed on guitar and piano with attention focused on lyrical content. Additionally each iteration of the material will be scrutinized and made available to the consumer. These along with lyrics, artwork, video and audio will be included in the final product. Drawing on my love of physical media such as albums and the accompanying record sleeves I’ve decided that this project should be delivered in a way that the user could enjoy the content while cruising through different aspects of the overall theme. For this task I’ve decided to use Apple’s iBook platform. This is a newer platform available to iOS users and allows video, audio and interactive diagrams and 3-D models to be embedded into the page. The entire work will be embedded in a book that will be sold via the iBooks store. Along with the tracks themselves as I’ve said before the different iterations of each track will be included. Additionally insight from the composers and the artist that collaborated on the tracks as well as insight into the inspiration of the tracks, artwork inspired by the tracks and videos of interviews concerning the topics the songs deals with.
