简介
Reflections is Monica Scott's debut album. The intent of the album is to uplift and inspire others through beautiful and calming piano arrangements. Most of the songs are arrangements of beloved hymns but there are three original compositions. Monsoon, A New Day, and Carsen's Song are all original compositions inspired by different events. Monsoon was written when Monica and her family lived in Arizona. During her first monsoon season in Arizona Monica fell in love with the warm, stormy weather. On one particularly dark and stormy day in Arizona, Monica sat down at her piano and began to play... and Monsoon was born. As she was playing this song during the storm she looked out her front window and saw her children playing ecstatically in the rain. This scene inspired the chorus of the song which is a bit brighter. She learned from this that there is much beauty to be seen during the storms of life. A New Day was written to be a song about hope and new beginnings. Carsen's Song is a tribute to Monica's nephew, Carsen Dean Welch. Carsen passed away in March of 2015 after living a courageous one month of life. Carsen defied all odds and Monica and her family are so grateful for the precious month they had with him. The other hymn arrangements were all prayerfully selected. Some were made into medleys with hymns that aren't typically found together. Monica hopes that these unique arrangements will bring peace and comfort into people's homes and lives. In working with these sacred hymns, Monica's life has been deeply touched and she hopes that others will be able to feel the same as they listen.
