简介
The Uprising -- Metal Alliance "This compilation is a new Metal Massacre for the 21st century!" Having just mastered Two Fist's “Walking Through Walls” CD, I invited their founding member, Jeff Duarte, along to debut the album at a party in Hollywood. The punk-infused aggro-metal offering was well received, and before long our host Kevin Estrada plied us with some inspiring West Coast tunes in the form of the 1997 “Fiesta Comes Alive!” punk compilation LP (Slap A Ham Records). Something clicked in Duarte and he immediately began a passionate campaign to bring forth a heavy metal compilation into the world. I admit to being skeptical at first, but weeks later he had formulated his brainchild with such clarity and fervor that I knew I had to get involved. He had a clear plan, and Jeff knew a legion of great musicians from all over the U.S. In short order, he had assembled seventeen killer bands from New Orleans, St. Louis, Las Vegas, Seattle, San Diego and Los Angeles for The Uprising. “This is for posterity!” he proclaimed, adamant that metal rise up again to its rightful place as a musical genre for the Ages. Drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio, Heaven & Hell) and vocalist Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot) bring their incredible star power into play on Eight Bomb Murder’s gloriously brooding track “Let Her Go”. The pair were introduced to Eight Bomb founder Dave Chapman (Ted Nugent) via the awesome production talents of Tom Parham. Chapman's bass is also featured on the delta-shred-blues stylings of The Dannyjoe Carter Band's “She Walk.” Carter was cited in a 2008 Guitar World list of the fastest guitarists in the world. The powerful vocals of Dean Ortega (Neverland, Tribe of Gypsies) also grace The Uprising with his intense new band Resurrect the Machine. Add to this the impressive cover art of Jeff Kahn (Skeleton of God) whose infamous 1993 death metal EP “Urine Garden” has just been reissued on Creepo Records. Much more stellar talent awaits discovery on this incredibly strong and diverse collection. Future stars will ascend as the momentum for The Uprising continues to build. “Together we are Legion!” --Jeff Duarte (Two Fist) “I was 'in' the moment he told me his vision.” --Richard Haitz (HAITZ, Carbon 9). “Sometimes ideas don't go further than the beer tab at the end of the night, but this thing has been realized.” --Dave Foster (Foss-Face Records, SkinMask) Scott Stratton (Sigmund Fried) Hollywood, CA, U.S.A.
