Ben Walker and Chris Knowles are both professional multi-instrumentalists, who have collaborated musically for several years on live performances and in the recording studio. They have performed together at many arts centres, folk festivals and concerts. Uilleann pipes, flutes and whistles are among Ben's main instruments, and he excels on all of them. Chris specialises in Celtic harp and Irish bouzouki as his main instruments, playing both rhythmic accompaniment and intricate melody or countermelody along with Ben's pipes or flute. 'The Holly Bush' is a collection of Ben & Chris's arrangements of mainly traditional Irish music, largely consisting of lively jigs and exciting reels, but also including some beautiful evocative slow airs. In addition to the Irish music there are 2 harp solos, one traditional Welsh and the other Scottish, and a waltz written by Ben. Ben is also a singer/songwriter, and the duo have recorded some other albums of his songs, but 'The Holly Bush' is an album of pure acoustic instrumental Celtic folk music, at its most exhilarating and uplifting.
