Seydi Mandoza was born in 1978 in Rufisque, a town in Senegal where the passion for music and dance is rooted in a variety of traditions. As a youth he was a part of the hip-hop collective Ska Blue which achieved great popularity in Senegal and its' surroundings. Since the year 2000, he pursues a solo career with partnerships across the African continent, where he shares the stage with Tiken Jah Fakoly, Carlou D and Youssou N'Dour. In 2008 he went to Sweden where he connected with the local reggae scene and quickly made a strong impression, not least because of his lively stage presence

In February 2011 he released his debut album "Lafreekano" on the independent label Swing Kids (SWE). At the same time he launched the video for the song "Clandestino", where the fate of African boat refugees' is depicted with a sympathetic look from the inside. Seydi Mandoza's lyrics are deeply engaging, performed in his mother tongue Wolof or in English. However, his message is expressed not only in words but also in his lively vibes, passion and musicality.
