简介
This album has been in my mind for as long as I've been playing music. I love Holy Week/Easter season more than any other time of the year. The music is rich in meaning and mystery which tells the story of the most important event in history, Christ's passion, death and resurrection. I started with a sampling of Ash Wednesday with "Lord have Mercy" and "Beautiful things". Following those are two songs which represent each important mass of Holy week. My God My God - The Psalm for Passion Sunday You are My King - A worship song which talks both of the kingship of Jesus and his death. Fitting for the two distinct moods of that Passion Sunday. O Sacrament most Holy is something I chose for Holy Thursday, which is called "Mass of the Lord's Supper". It is a celebration of the institution of the Eucharist prior to his agony. The Name of God - An Alternate refrain to Psalm 116 which is the Psalm for Holy Thursday. Father, I put my life in Your hands - The Psalm for Good Friday Lord Let Me Walk - A song of devotion that I like to use during the Adoration of the Cross Were You There - An old spiritual that many people love the melody to. Because He Lives - This is a great song co written by Matt Maher and Chris Tomlin. I use it for Easter Vigil and Sunday Morning. Come to the Water - I bittersweet song in my home now. I select this for The Sprinkling Rite at the Vigil. It is based on Isaiah 55 which is one of the readings for the Vigil, and has immense baptism imagery. The line which is bittersweet is "Bring the children without might" which brings up memories of the babies my family has had to let go to God in the past two years. Christ is Risen - One of my favorite songs as soon as I firsts listened to Matt Maher's recording six years ago. Combines resurrection message with Ephesian's "awake O sleeper rise up from the grave" and Paul's "O death, where is your sting" taunt in first Corinthians at the destruction of sin and death by Christ's victory.
