With music royalty running through her veins, BR always knew that music was her destiny. The granddaughter of music legend, Ray Charles, BR has had the extremely rare privilege of growing up around one of music’s most talented and revered artists. An innate talent that she has grown and nurtured throughout her life BR is stepping out and establishing herself as an artist in her own right. BR has been singing and writing songs for as long as she can remember. When she was a child her mother bought her a battery operated microphone to replace the hairbrush mic she had been using to pretend she was singing on stage. Since then, her real microphone has not been put down. Singing in the choir at her church and writing her own songs, BR began to develop her God given talents at a very young age. Her first brush with fame came when she attended a Mya concert at The House of Blues in Los Angeles. During an intermission talent show she sang and took the grand prize with her rendition of “A Case of The Ex.” With a unanimous vote from the crowd, BR proceeded to crush the competition and solidified her conviction that this was what she was meant to do. Her favorite song of all time is "You Don't Know Me" performed by her Grandfather. As she belts out the melodic lyrics, BR states, "There is something special about the way the song is sung. No matter what your age, everyone from all walks of life can relate to this song; it is universal." With a sound that is soft, yet edgy, fans most often described BR’s musical style as mysteriously analogous to Aaliyah: "Sweet soft vocals backed by emotionally captivating lyrics". She personally attributes her influences to artists like Aaliyah, Brandy, Sade, and most importantly, her Grandfather. The internet and music circles are abuzz with the release of BR’s Mixtape which features 12 songs and is appropriately titled “The Takeover”. She graces our ears with 7 original songs written by BR and 5 cover songs. Each month, since May 2010, BR has released a new video from the Takeover. The first, "My Love", released exclusively on World Star Hip Hop, immediately gained over 60,000 views within hours of its release and was quickly linked to thousands of websites and blogs worldwide. The second a forward and edgy re-do of hip hop artist Drake's "Over" shows fans that she will venture into any musical territory. BR’s version of Alicia Keys, “Unthinkable” surrenders your ears to the unquestionable beauty and peaceful sounds brought forth from deep inside her heart. With rave reviews, BR teamed up with Konvict Music’s Rapper “Ya Boy”, releasing yet another video on Drake’s “Fancy”, again, killing any doubt about her ability to stake her claim in the music game. Currently, BR is in the final stages of her soon to be released EP, titled Love & Pain which takes you through her personal journey of euphoric love then down the arduous and painful path of rising from a failed relationship. While still a work in progress, collaborative pieces include songs with The Game, Soulja Boy and Ya Boy.
