This New CD is the end result of two separate recording projects which somehow miraculously found a common thread and combined into this new release. Half of the songs are Dave's solo material while the other half represents some of the Dave Rowe Trio's latest material. There is truly something for everyone on this project as it goes between the personal and sentimental with "Lullaby" and "Big House, Middle House, Back House, Barn," and the absurd with "Splitting Wood in Flip-Flops" to songs of the sea with "Keeper of the Light" and "Mighty Portland Gale." Dave Rowe presents a fresh take on the folk scene with powerful vocals, instrumental virtuosity, exciting showmanship, and keen songwriting. He respectfully builds on tradition to bring traditional music to a new level. Dave Rowe has a strong heritage to draw on, having grown up immersed in music. His father was Tom Rowe, Schooner Fare's bass player, whose driving rhythms laid the foundation for that group's robust sound. Tom Rowe's abiding joy in the music infected his son. By the ag 15, Dave was making money making music as the bass player with the Makem Brothers. In 1993, the Rowe men did the most natural thing in the world and formed Rowe by Rowe, which later became a trio called Turkey Hollow. The Rowe men toured extensively until Dave lost his dad to cancer early in 2004. With the loss of his dad, Dave was left to form a new band. He asked Kevin O'Reilly to join him on this odyssey—an electric bass player with a background in rock music, Kevin provides a strong underpinning to the DRT sound while hanging on to his rock sensibilities. In addition to trio work, he explores the boundaries of bass guitar with his solo music. 
 The trio was originally rounded out with Ed Howe, Dave’s fiddle-toting friend, but after over 4 years in the band, Ed decided to move on and introduced Dave and Kevin to Eric McDonald, a Boston-based mandolin player and current Berklee student, who quickly fell in with the band’s arrangements and made a seamless transition into the lineup. Music had always been a passion for Dave; now he is continuing and expanding on a legacy so well begun.
