简介
Jacob Church was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Memphis, TN, and when you put those places together you get some pretty interesting music. Attracted to music from an early age (“Elvira” by the Oak Ridge Boys used to put him to sleep as a baby), it was natural that Jacob would begin writing music of his own. First playing his original tunes for classmates in high school, then moving on to local clubs and venues in Memphis, Jacob cut his teeth in the home of the blues and birthplace of rock and roll. Jacob received a music degree from Rhodes College and soon went to work in the music industry in Memphis, allowing him to meet some of the greats and to learn first hand about the craft of music. With his debut solo release Dancehall, Jacob combines country, folk, and good old-fashioned rock and roll with thoughtful lyrics and solid songwriting. Personal experience and heartfelt performances make the songs on Dancehall stand out in a music world saturated with contrived pop ditties. Performed and recorded almost entirely by Jacob, Dancehall has a consistency and personal touch reminiscent of days when the record was thought of as a coherent whole. Between Texas and Tennessee Jacob has learned from some of the best American music has to offer.
